Mastering your inner critic

Do you worry that one day, those around you will realise that you are not capable of doing your job? That you will be ‘found out’? Do you continually worry that you aren't good enough to succeed? That, despite all of your achievements, you're just not capable or clever enough? You're not alone.

Hope Street Centre Director and Psychotherapist Maurice Tomkinson, and The Mind Coach Tianne Croshaw use different but equally effective techniques to help individuals to overcome limiting self beliefs perpetuated by the inner critic.

Achieving your New Year’s Resolutions

January is the time of new beginnings when we think of New Year resolutions. Why is it that all too often these do not last beyond the end of the month? In this article I offer some tips for turning these aspirations into permanent change.

‘How to be Happy’ workshop

Stress Balls

Charlotte Walton will be running a 2 day workshop on ‘How to be Happy’ at Reaseheath College on 1st and 15th October.
The course is suitable for anyone seeking greater understanding on ‘How to be Happy’ and will look at defining what happiness is, identifying and removing obstacles to happiness and learning about the gift of happiness.

Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess….

Or so Ken Dodd would have us believe, but how much time do we take to really acknowledge and celebrate this wonderful gift?  And what do we mean by ‘happiness’ anyway?

Look into any newspaper or watch the television news and you might think that there is nothing to be happy about.  It seems as though each day brings with it some new piece of research telling us how miserable we are.  Headliness such as “Stressed-out adults spend 36 minutes a day in despair” (Daily Mail, 1st June 2011) and “Six in ten of us have faced mental issues such as stress or depression” (Metro, 7th March 2010) leap out at us as we eat our breakfasts, suggesting that happiness is far from the ‘norm’.

6 Human Psychological Needs

Sometimes, we do and say things that don’t make sense to others.  This is because as humans, our choices and behaviours are almost always driven by the need to meet one or more of our 6 Human Psychological Needs. Although not immediately obvious to others, through our actions, we are simply trying to get our psychological needs met.

What are the 6 Human Psychological Needs?
Tony Robbins identified 6 Human Psychological Needs by studying 'Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs' which is a theory in psychology. Tony believes that everyone is, or can be, motivated by their desire to meet them.

The first four, certainty, variety, significance, and love/connection are essential for   human survival. The last two needs, Growth and Contribution, are required for human actualisation / fulfilment.

Technical Life Coaching for Engineers and IT Professionals

Data Cables

Before starting my new career in psychotherapy and life coaching, I worked for 20 years in technical fields - the chemical industry, process control and automation, programming, software and information technology. I became aware that technical people were often the creative life-blood of their organisations, but all too often did not receive the status and financial rewards they deserved. All too often it was the financial and sales people who called the shots, while the programmers and engineers were bogged down with problem solving and fire fighting.

Life Coaching

Life coaching is a process for unlocking your potential and helping you to get the most out of life. It frees you to develop your innate abilities, discover your own answers to life's challenges, and to create the satisfying and fulfilling life that you have always wanted.

Life coaching is not just about earning more money! The techniques it uses can be focused on achieving any goals you wish. Life coaching opens up choice, enabling you to be the master of your own destiny. Where this will lead is up to you - it could be more creativity, more fulfilling relationships, more success, a more rewarding job, more fun and relaxation - all these are possible for you.
