The Hope Street Centre Newsletter - February 2012
At The Hope Street Centre we have been busy behind the scenes working on our new website, which launched at the beginning of the 2012. We’d like to invite you, our regular readers to visit our new look site, which combines all of the established features available on our previous site with more interactive features such as therapist blogs and the option to comment on articles.
You will notice that the site includes images of Sandbach and the surrounding areas. When designing the site it was important to us to retain the community feel, and so we hope you enjoying looking at our pictures of the local area.
We’ve also added a dedicated section for Organisations and Healthcare Professionals, and included information on many of services which are new to the Centre for individuals and businesses alike.
Brightstone Clinic is a new community based service – aimed at making counselling more affordable and accessible. In February, the Clinic will open its doors for the first time.
The launch of the Clinic will take place on 18th February 2012. Both founding Directors Jessica Woolliscroft and Maurice Tomkinson will be attending with their team to answer questions and talk more about the Clinic’s aims and objectives.
‘’Unless you change your relationship with food and alcohol at a subconscious level your food and drink habits are NEVER going to change. Granted, you may get temporarily motivated by the latest celebrity diet or group weigh-in’s but that in itself is not sustainable. You need to discover your personal psychology and thinking and how you can easily re-programme your mind for easy, enjoyable inch loss 4 life! ‘’
-Tianne Croshaw – Creator of the Sit & Slim Programme as advertised on Dragons Den & The Alan Titchmarsh Show
Kelly Smith and Tianne Croshaw – The North West Mind Specialists – have come together once again to show you exactly how to programme your mind to be slim. No more disheartening dieting to achieve a slim body and no unhealthy ‘magic pills’ - just good old re-programming of your mind.
Guess what? It works and it’s SIMPLE!
Would you like to gain some insight into how you are perceived in the workplace?
Would you benefit from feedback from a variety of sources?
If you have answered ‘yes’ to the above questions, you would most likely benefit from 360 Degree Feedback.
What is 360 Degree Feedback?
It enables you to gain feedback on your professional performance from a selection your colleagues. It provides valuable insight into how you are perceived from a range of perspectives, which can ultimately help you to build on your strengths and identify your development areas.
It is particularly useful in increasing self awareness and provides more detailed feedback about you are viewed than the more traditional manager led appraisal.
Many people seek professional help because of being “overweight”, but who decides what is a “normal” weight? For many it is a personal decision, because they are not happy with the way they look or feel.
For others it is a decision based on medical advice. Since 1972 the Body Mass Index has been used to indicate whether a person is carrying too much fat as a proportion of body weight. You can calculate your BMI here. A body mass index of 30 or greater indicates obesity, i.e. a person is carrying too much body fat for their height and sex.
Children are taunted for being “a cry baby”, women are accused of being “over sensitive” and men are reared to “keep a stiff upper lip”. How cruel to be denied something that is completely natural and healing. I frequently still hear the awful words “I’ll give you something to cry about in a minute” delivered from parent to child.
Yoga is an ancient holistic system from the East for health, well-being, and ultimately, spiritual development.
Fiona Forster teaches yoga at The Hope Street Centre for up to two individuals at once.
The style of yoga Fiona teaches is gentle and flowing, suitable for all ages and abilities. She originally trained as a Dru yoga and personal development teacher, qualifying in 2001, and has since attended a variety of workshops with teachers from different traditions and styles, to continue her professional development.
Fiona plans individual sessions of gentle yoga, which include relaxation, flowing sequences, postures and stretches, breathing and meditation, tailored to you.
The sessions usually last an hour, can be spaced as you wish and handouts are offered to support and encourage your personal practice at home.
