Medical Herbalism

Herbal medicine uses plant extracts from a wide variety of sources as an alternative to prescription medication to treat a range of medical conditions. Each herbal medicine is prepared specifically for the client according to their needs. Rather than dealing with isolated symptoms, a herbalist will look at the whole person, taking into account emotional and spiritual issues as well as physical problems.

Herbal treatment uses a holistic approach and aims to correct deficiencies in the body's systems - circulation and digestion are supported so that the body is properly nourished, the function of the liver and lymphatic systems are improved to aid the removal of toxins from the body, the immune system is stimulated and inflammation reduced. The focus is on bringing the whole body to an optimal state of health, and in so doing the troubling symptoms improve.

Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT – What Is It?

How many times have you tried to stop smoking? Attempted to cut down on overeating? Or avoided something because of fear, anxiety, or worries?

The negative emotions created in our bodies when we attempt to make a change or address an underlying issue can literally be life-limiting. You might think that if you could just have plastic surgery / buy that outfit / get your teeth fixed / lose that weight, you would feel better about yourself. Unfortunately, if you don’t deal with your self-esteem and your limiting beliefs, you end up trying to “fix” your flaws, usually with limited success, and the cycle begins once again.

Traditional Ear Candling

Some of the names given to this relaxing therapy with ancient origins going back to the early Egyptians, Phoenicians and Hopi Indians in North America. Though the technique has been passed on orally and there is little recorded history, it has survived many cultural changes and stood the test of time. The following conditions and symptoms have been helped by ear candling:

Body Massage

The art of massage is probably as old as man himself, because to hold or rub an injured part is an instinctive reaction when we are in pain.  As long a go as the Roman Empire, a famous physician, Galen, favoured massage for the treatment of injuries and certain diseases.  He wrote: “massage eliminates the waste products of nutrition and poisons of fatigue”.

The objectives of body massage are to stimulate circulation, be uplifting, promote relaxation and a sense of well-being, and anti-cellulite.  Massage has physiological and psychological effects depending on the techniques and movements used, and their position and pressure, either separately or in combination.  Skin, muscle, blood vessels, lymph, nerves and some of the internal organs, can all be affected.

Yoga is an ancient holistic system from the East for health, well-being, and ultimately, spiritual development.

Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is a gentle, natural, non-invasive therapy. The therapist, using only thumbs and fingers, makes gentle rolling movements over muscles and tendons at precise points. The process releases energy, sending impulses to the brain to trigger the body’s own healing systems. The Technique has a remarkable record of success in alleviating back pain – often when no other treatment has provided significant relief. Bowen has helped many people to lead more active lives and reduce their reliance on drugs – and even to return to work, sometimes after a lengthy absence. Apart from back pain, Bowen has a very broad spectrum of application, including chronic asthma, frozen shoulder, whiplash, migraine, IBS, fertility matters, hormonal issues, breating problems and a host of other health issues.
