Dear Julia

I am not one who normally feels comfortable in writing to somebody to ask a question about me.  I am only concerned with normally looking after other people and think of myself last.

I wonder if you could help me.  I am having great pain in my back and shoulder.  I have an employer who is making me work long hours without a break in front of a computer.  I find my work stressful because I work hard for my employer who is very bad tempered which affects my nerves.

Could you help me please?

Thanks.

Jill

Dear Julia,

I have been suffering from migraines for the last ten years, but more recently they have been occuring more frequently. I am 59 years old and whilst I get regular exercise, my diet could be improved. I take tablets for high blood pressure and when the migraine strikes I take painkillers. I would like to explore an alternative way of dealing with these issues and any suggestions you could give to me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Lillian

Reflexology Diary - Week 2

Reflexology.jpg

Following a successful and enjoyable first experience of Reflexology, our client continues to document her experiences of her treatment programme. In the first session, the client had presented with back pain and re-occurring shingles.  Read on to find out how Reflexology is helping to manage these symptoms.

Reflexology Diary - Week 1

I decided to try a course of Reflexology in the hope that it might help me to better manage some physical and emotional health problems I had been experiencing.  On the physical side of things I had suffered from reoccurring shingles outbreaks for the past two years and lower back pain for about a year.  I was also experiencing stress and anxiety.

Reflexology
In this article, Caroline Fallon, a Complementary Therapist at The Hope Street Centre will be discussing the benefits of reflexology in helping to alleviate and manage stress for men and women in the workplace.
I know a number of reflexologists who have offered onsite treatments to staff in larger organisations, including Marks & Spencer, Leighton Hospital and John Lewis… however, what about smaller companies who may need help?

Such treatments can be offered as benefits to staff, that in turn can increase their overall morale and job satisfaction, which ultimately increases productivity.  A small investment can produce  great benefits in any organisation.

As an employer, you may want to help reduce sickness and absenteeism, and there is evidence of large organisations in Denmark where reflexology has had a direct impact on their bottom line.

Reflexology

A therapy with ancient roots both in China and Egypt, introduced and developed in the West during the twentieth century. It is accomplished by massaging reflex points on the feet, an unconscious reaction is initiated in another part of the body, affecting the internal organs. This helps the body to a dynamic state of balance, initiating a healing response. Benefits include relaxation, improved health, and an increased feeling of well-being.
