'Are You Listening?' workshop at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service

On National Learning at Work Day, The Hope Street Centre ran a 2 hour workshop for employees of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service who had requested some training in Active Listening Skills.  Here we report on the content of the workshop and the feedback received.

Throughout Adult Learners’ Week (14th-20th May 2011) Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) ran a series of workshops to promote lifelong learning. The Hope Street Centre were invited to run a session on Active Listening Skills for their main event that week, National Learning at Work Day, which took place on Thursday 19th May.

Maurice Tomkinson ran the two hour workshop, which included a brief history of listening therapies, a role play to demonstrate poor listening, group discussions, and finally a demonstration of effective listening skills.

The aim of the workshop was to provide some practical guidance to delegates on active listening within their roles at CFRS.  There was lots of productive and stimulating discussion on the workshop, and delegates reported afterwards that they had found their experienced interesting and informative.

If you feel that you or your organisation would benefit from a workshop on this, or any other topic, please contact The Hope Street Centre.  Below is a link to further services that The Hope Street Centre can offer to organisations.
