Who can benefit from hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can be utilised to access a person’s
inner potential - given that few of us are achieving our full
potential, then most people are able to benefit from it. Hypnotherapy
activates a person's inner resources to bring about beneficial
change, stimulating the innate healing capacity of our own body
and unconscious mind. The list of problems which it can address
is too long and varied to catalogue but certainly includes:
- Stress Management
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Panic and phobias
- Unwanted habits and addictions (e.g. smoking,
overeating, alcoholism)
- Disrupted sleep patterns
- Lack of confidence and low self-esteem
- Fear of examinations and public speaking
- Allergies and skin disorders
- Migraine and irritable bowel syndrome
(IBS).
Many people believe or have been told
that they have to learn to live with depression, anxiety or panic
attacks. Through hypnotherapy a great number of problem areas
and symptoms can be effectively and quickly relieved.

What
are Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?
It is fact that everyone switches into light hypnosis
naturally every day, through sitting in the office or at home day
dreaming. Driving to work and not really knowing how you got there
missing part of your journey out in your head. Even before and after
sleep is hypnosis just as you wake in the morning and again just
before going to sleep at night. All hypnosis is self hypnosis and
the hypnotherapist just helps you achieve a trance-like state for
the session rather than leaving it to chance. When
explaining hypnosis to a new client it is sometimes easier to
explain what hypnosis is not rather than what it is. i.e. not
sleep, not a state of unconsciousness. In fact most clients may
be surprised on their first session to experience just how ordinary
hypnosis is and that it is not the magical mystical state that
they expected.
Hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it attempts
to address the client’s subconscious mind. The
Hypnotherapist often enlists the power of the client’s own
imagination and may utilise a wide range of techniques such as
suggestions for beneficial change. Analytical techniques may also
be employed in an attempt to uncover problems deemed to lie in
a client’s past (pin point regression) or may concentrate
more on a client’s current life and presenting problem.
