Traditional Ear Candling

Some of the names given to this relaxing therapy with ancient origins going back to the early Egyptians, Phoenicians and Hopi Indians in North America. Though the technique has been passed on orally and there is little recorded history, it has survived many cultural changes and stood the test of time. The following conditions and symptoms have been helped by ear candling:

  • Congestion in head and ears (either from blocked sinuses or excess ear wax or both)
  • Glue ear
  • Earache
  • Tinnitus
  • Otitis Externa ** inflammation of the skin of the ear canal or of the external ear (pinna)
  • Tropical ear
  • Balance problems
  • TMJ dysfunction* (temporomanibular joint syndrome)
  • Ear pressure problems e.g. after swimming and flying
  • Migraine and headaches
  • Important for hayfever sufferers
  • Calming effect in cases of stress
  • Common colds and sore throats

The treatment is suitable and safe for adults and children. Ear candling doesn't just work on a purely physical level but also an 'energetic' one. Muscle testing or Kinesiology is used to test the body's inner wisdom before the ear candling commences.

The candles are carefully crafted in linen, then impregnated with beeswax. All materials used are natural and sourced from certified organic producers and are tested as free from all environmental toxins.

Contra-indications

  • perforation or lack of ear drum
  • auricular drains (paracentesis) or grommets.
  • recent ear surgery
  • auricular cysts
  • ear tumour
  • serious infection
  • being too close to taking a flight

The treatment – What does it feel like?

The effect is a light suction action on the ear and the flame creates a gentle vibration of air in the candle. This feels like a gentle warming sensation where the environment dries out leaving less congestion.

Afterwards

A light face and head massage is added to assist sinus drainage.

Drink plenty of water to help the detox process.

Earwax softens for easy removal.

Testimonials from clients:

“Improved hearing”, ... '”feeling more alert”, ... “My sinuses started to clear”.

Some people report a heightened sense of smell, taste and sight.
